Our vision for Ellenville’s future
Cradled between the Catskills and the Shawangunks, Ellenville is a compact, historic village that is bursting at the seams with diverse people and cultural offerings.
We envision a thriving, equitable, and walkable downtown that fully embraces its role as the commercial hub for the rural tri-county region of south-western Ulster, eastern Sullivan and northern Orange counties.
Our economy is centered on arts, culture, and outdoor recreation, attracting visitors from near and far and creating sustainable, family-supporting local jobs.
We prioritize investment to revitalize historic buildings, activate vacant properties, and promote density and quality housing at all price points to protect affordability for all people while enhancing multi-modal connectivity and climate resilience.

About NY Forward.
Ellenville has submitted an application to Round 4 of the NY Forward program - a regional competition for two $4.5 million awards to jumpstart revitalization in communities throughout the Mid-Hudson region. The program goals reflect lessons learned over the years about how to build more vibrant, attractive and successful downtown districts.

As the Village prepared our NY Forward application, we learned of dozens of interesting projects planned for or proposed in the Historic Ellenville Downtown Business District. A partial list of potential projects is available here. Note that not all projects identified are included in this list, and further, a project’s inclusion or exclusion from this list will not determine whether it is funded in the event Ellenville’s application is successful.
